I never thought of TRANSYLVANIA. Tears and Crosses could be this good. Initially I picked up this book expecting maybe some dramatic landscapes and a few legends. What I found was something far more meaningful and this book opens a door into the heart of a land that has been misunderstood for too long.
Through the seven stories, I met miners, villagers, priests, and travelers, each living through moments where history and folklore meet. The tale of Mihu Gritti and the gold-spirit for instance, made me think about responsibility and how wealth should be used for the good of others. The journey of Johannes Kelpius to Philadelphia showed me how Transylvania’s influence reached far beyond its borders.
I was particularly impressed by the book’s strong historical foundation while still making room for the myths that influenced daily life. The people were genuine, the landscapes seemed alive, and the principles were timeless. In fact, you can sense the identity, perseverance, and link between the past and present.
