My desire for pasties began as a child growing up in Michigan’s Upper Peninsu- la. The permeating odor of the pasty’s savory, blended ingredients and its flaky crust stimulated all of my senses. The pasty is a nostalgic reminder of that time growing up and of times with family and friends. Pasties are enjoyed on special occasions like picnics, family holidays, or just family supper.
